Sean Canham took his BGB Premier Division tally for the season to23 as TeamBath continued their title push with a routine victoryover bottom side Cheshunt at Twerton Park.
It was the University of Bath-based side's fifth win on the trotand their fourth without conceding a goal and lifted them to secondspot in the table with games in hand after leaders King's Lynn andthird-placed Halesowen both drew elsewhere.
Head coach Andy Tillson said: "We did the hard work first andthat made the game easy for us.
"Defensively, we looked really solid and the lads deserve a bigpat on the back for that.
"Sean is absolutely bombing up front at the moment, but what ispleasing is that he's not only a top striker but a top student aswell.
"He's on course to get a top degree and he'll be concentrating onfinishing that over the next three or four months as well as hisfootball."
Canham's first of the afternoon was a close-range header on 23minutes, while the second came from the penalty spot on the hourmark.
The penalty followed a trip on winger Takumi Ake by Glenn Parry.
Dan Dillon could have scored immediately after the break, but sawhis shot cannon off the post.
Steve Abbott fired just over the bar midway through the secondhalf and Gary Warren's header 10 minutes from time was headed offthe line by Michael Gliddon.
TeamBath had suffered an injury blow on nine minutes when DeanSmith hobbled off with a groin strain.
He is racing against the clock to be fit in time for Saturday'strip to play-off hopefuls Hemel Hempstead Town.
The visitors will be chasing a league double after a Canham hat-trick helped TeamBath beat the Hertfordshire outfit 3-2 back inOctober, although Hemel exacted their revenge a month later with a 3-0 home win in the FA Trophy.
Tillson said: "The lads can't wait for the next game now and theHemel game is a big one for us.
"You never know what you're going to get from them.
"They lost to Swindon Supermarine last weekend, but have beatenourselves and King's Lynn this season.
"When they beat us in the Trophy they fully deserved to and we'vegot to expect a tough fixture."
Defender Shaun Lamb and winger Mike Perrott return from injury, while Marc Canham is back from England Futsal duty.
