Bison will tag along on new license plates

SPRINGFIELD License plates that will benefit Wildlife PrairiePark west of Peoria are expected to begin popping up on cars inApril.

The state's newest fund-raising license plate will feature thesilhouette of a North American bison.

The plate will cost $88 for a first-time purchase, or $40 if theowner is surrendering another license plate. Renewing the plate willcost $75 a year. Of those fees, $25 goes to a fund for parkimprovements and operations.
